Biography
Attorney Burgos received his Juris Doctor (JD) law degree in 1987 from the Catholic University of Puerto Rico. Upon obtaining his JD degree he joined the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) under the Attorney General's Honor Program, was trained in Civil Litigation at the DOJ main offices in Washington, D.C., and became a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). Mr. Burgos successfully represented the United States as a Federal Prosecutor for 11 years in proceedings before the U.S. Immigration Courts, U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Board of Immigration Appeals.
He went into private practice in 1999 and, shortly thereafter, obtained the coveted AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell (MH), the highest level granted by MH. Since then, Mr. Burgos has successfully represented former high ranking foreign government ministers and officials seeking asylum in the United States, foreign multinational enterprises seeking to transfer executives into this country, and foreign entrepreneurs and investors seeking to conduct business in the United States. He has successfully represented foreign nationals in removal (deportation) proceedings, obtaining legal remedies allowing them to remain in this country.
Mr. Burgos is admitted to practice immigration law nation wide (in all 50 States and Territories). He is a member of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the State of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Burgos has over 32 years of experience in Immigration law.
